Replace Missing Teeth and Restore Your Smile

A missing tooth affects more than your appearance. Over time, the gap left behind can cause neighboring teeth to shift, alter your bite, accelerate bone loss in your jaw, and make everyday tasks like chewing and speaking more difficult. At North Frisco Dental & Orthodontics, a dental bridge offers a time-tested, reliable solution for replacing one or more missing teeth — restoring both the function and appearance of your smile in as little as two appointments.
A dental bridge literally bridges the gap created by a missing tooth, using the teeth on either side of the space as anchors to support a custom-made artificial tooth in between. The result is a fixed, natural-looking restoration that looks, feels, and functions like your own teeth.

What is a Dental Bridge?
A dental bridge is a fixed prosthetic restoration used to replace one or more missing teeth. It consists of two or more dental crowns placed on the teeth adjacent to the gap — known as abutment teeth — with an artificial tooth, called a pontic, suspended between them. The bridge is permanently cemented in place, meaning it does not need to be removed for cleaning and functions just like natural teeth.
Bridges can be made from a variety of materials including porcelain, porcelain fused to metal, and zirconia. At North Frisco Dental & Orthodontics, we use tooth-colored materials that blend seamlessly with your natural smile for a restoration that is both strong and aesthetically pleasing.

Types of Dental Bridges
- Traditional Dental Bridge: The most common type. Two dental crowns are placed on the teeth on either side of the gap, anchoring the artificial tooth in between. Ideal when healthy natural teeth are present on both sides of the space.
- Cantilever Bridge: Used when there is only one natural tooth adjacent to the gap. The bridge is supported by a single abutment tooth rather than two. Less common but appropriate in certain situations.
- Maryland Bridge: A conservative option that uses a metal or porcelain framework bonded to the backs of the adjacent teeth rather than full crowns. Requires minimal alteration of the supporting teeth and works well for replacing front teeth.

What to Expect During the Dental Bridge Process
Consultation and Preparation
We examine your teeth, take X-rays, and prepare the abutment teeth by reshaping them to accommodate the crowns. Impressions or digital scans of your teeth are taken and sent to our dental lab to fabricate your custom bridge
Temporary Bridge Placement
A temporary bridge is fitted to protect your prepared teeth and maintain your appearance while your permanent bridge is being made
Permanent Bridge Fitting
Once your custom bridge is ready, we remove the temporary and carefully fit, adjust, and cement the permanent bridge in place
Final checks
We assess your bite and make any necessary adjustments to ensure a comfortable, secure fit
